Prabhu Dayal Agarwal, (fondly remembered as PDji) :

The founder of the TCI Bhoruka group, worked hard to realize his dreams. As a young man, he was inspired by Pandit Nehru's call to build an industrialized India. He envisioned the importance the organized transport sector would play in the development process. Thus, the first office of the Transport Corporation of India (TCI) was instituted in 1958, with just one truck plying between Calcutta and Bombay.

A young man, in the early 60's, he ensured the utmost commitment from all his employees. He knew the names of all the 350 members of the TCI family across the country. His lack of formal education was in no way a hindrance to his excellent entrepreneurial skills.

With his rigorous daily routine, PDji had the company doubling its turnover every three years in his lifetime. His endeavors in other fields include Engineering, Textile, Steel and Aluminum. The parent company, TCI grew to become the foremost Transport Company in India

With numerous feathers to his cap, PDji started a number of development projects in his native village. With schools and potable water, Bhorugram became a model village for the nation. The charitable trusts he set up, impart free education and medical help and carry his legacy forward.Over the years TCI has grown to become the premier Transport Company in India. With passage of time, they have diversified in to various industry segments.
